About
The team, the place, and the practice
Sonoma Communications builds and operates the communications fabric beneath serious work. We are technical people who prefer to let the work speak, in plain terms wherever plain terms are honest.
The practice
Calm, careful, and load-bearing
We think of communications as infrastructure. It is load-bearing for the businesses that depend on it, and it deserves the operational discipline that word implies. That shapes how we build: redundancy before features, observability from the first call, and a bias toward the quieter option wherever a quieter option exists.
Our customers are technical evaluators who trust specifics over slogans. We try to meet them there. When we describe what we run, we name the protocols, share the numbers, and say plainly what we have done before.
The place
A workshop in a stand of old trees
Sonoma sits at the meeting point of the natural and the engineered. The image we keep returning to is a wireless repeater mounted on a redwood: modern infrastructure carried by something far older than infrastructure. It is a useful reminder that the most reliable systems are the ones that sit quietly and simply work.
Founding brand of The Ington Group
Sonoma set the tone for the family
Sonoma Communications was the first piece of The Ington Group, and it continues to set the standard the group builds to. Where our work connects with sibling brands, we collaborate openly. Where it does not, Sonoma stands on its own.

Working here
Remote-first, rooted somewhere worth the name
Sonoma Communications is a remote-first company. You can do serious work from the coastal redwood belt north of San Francisco, from a home office in Berlin, from a setup in Singapore, or from anywhere you have built a workspace that works for you. The communications fabric we build is designed to carry teams across any distance. We operate the same way.
The name points to a place, and we are proud of it. Santa Rosa, California is where the company was founded, and it remains the geographic heart of the team for those who want it. The drive through the Mayacamas in the morning is still one of the better commutes in the country. But it is not a requirement.
What we ask for is ownership, craft, and the kind of quiet reliability that good infrastructure is supposed to deliver. Where you deliver it is yours to decide.
Work from Santa Rosa
Our home is Sonoma County. Join colleagues in the hills north of the Bay when you want the place that started it all.
Work from anywhere
Distributed by design. The same tools and standards apply whether you are on Pacific time, Central European time, or anywhere between.
Own your schedule
Coordination happens intentionally, not constantly. We keep synchronous time focused so your deep work stays yours.
Talk to someone who does the work
Book a call with a Sonoma solutions engineer. No script, no funnel. A direct conversation about what you are building and how the fabric beneath it should behave.
